MEMS Infinity Global Design Challenge Now Underway
Final week of submissions – Deadline: July 25
AMAGASAKI, HYOGO, JAPAN – June 18, 2025 – MEMS Infinity, the commercial MEMS foundry division of Sumitomo Precision Products Co., Ltd. (Sumitomo Precision Products), is currently holding the MEMS Infinity Challenge, an international design competition recognizing visionary and commercially viable MEMS device concepts. The competition is open to engineers worldwide, with the application deadline set for July 25, 2025.
A promotional video introducing the vision and spirit behind the challenge is now available on the official MEMS Infinity Challenge site.
All eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of academic and industry experts. Three finalists will be announced online in advance, while the final awards — the MEMS Infinity Award and Special Jury Awards — will be presented at PiezoMEMS 2025, held from November 3 to 5 in Himeji, Japan.
The top winner will receive complimentary foundry services at MEMS Infinity, with access to its production lines for mid-to-high-volume MEMS development. Second and third place winners will receive free PZT deposition or DRIE processing services.
“We launched the MEMS Infinity Challenge to encourage emerging talents in MEMS design and to support their transition from concept to commercialization,” said Tsuyoshi Takemoto, General Manager of MEMS Infinity. “This competition brings together experienced design engineers and a distinguished panel of judges from both academia and industry.”
The judging panel brings together distinguished figures from academia and industry, with members including Professor Kensuke Kanda (University of Hyogo), Professor Isaku Kanno (Kobe University), and experts from MEMS Infinity.
