Landing gear design and development example

Landing gear for CRJ-1000

We worked with Goodrich (at the time) to design and develop a total system for the CRJ-1000, which made its first flight in 2008, including the landing gear and lift actuation, as well as the tail bumper to protect the tail of the aircraft from contact with the runway. Utilizing CATIA (3D CAD), we addressed in advance issues such as the increased difficulty of processing complex shapes due to the application of CAM/CAE, insufficient strength due to localized stress concentrations, and interference problems that occur when the aircraft is stowed, ensuring a smooth completion of development.
This follows on from the joint order received in 1997 from Bombardier Inc. for the landing gear system for the CRJ-700 regional jet, together with (then) Menasco, which subsequently jointly designed and developed the landing gear for the derivative CRJ-900, which made its first flight in 2001.
