Brake system and Landing Gear shimmy test equipment
1. We have two units, one large and one small.
2. This test equipment is used to test the braking performance of aircraft brake systems and shimmy tests of landing gear assemblies.3. The test equipment consists of (1) a dynamometer consisting of a drum, a flywheel, and an electric motor that drives it, (2) a tire loading device that presses the tire against the drum, and (3) a shimmy tower that lifts and lowers cargo with attached landing gear assemblies to simulate the sliding state of the landing gear assemblies on the drum.4. The dynamometer provides the runway surface during braking tests and stores the rotational energy to be absorbed by the braking system through a combination of a drum and a flywheel. During shimmy tests, it provides the runway surface and also acts as a driving source to rotate the tires at the test runway speed.5. The tire loading device is used during brake testing to hold one tire/wheel and brake assembly and press the tire against the drum according to a pre-programmed sliding speed vs. pressing load curve.6 Shimmy towers are used during shimmy tests, and by extend and retract cargo to which landing gear assemblies are attached, the landing gear assemblies slide on the drums. The towers also have the function of adjusting the load distribution of the landing gear assemblies during sliding.
