Landing Gear

Able to develop and manufacture products that contribute to aircraft flight safety

A leading company in the world of commercial aircraft equipment

Since we began manufacturing landing gear (landing gear) parts in the 1950s, we have cultivated our landing gear design, development, and production technologies, and have been involved in almost all domestic aircraft development. We have also used this experience to participate in overseas civil aircraft development, and are recognized as one of the world's leading landing gear manufacturers, capable of independent design, development, and manufacturing. We also develop extremely important systems related to landing gear, including main landing gear brake control systems, nose landing gear steering systems, and landing gear extension/retraction systems, and act as a systems integrator for landing gear systems.

The role of landing gear

Wright brothers first adopted wheeled landing gear in 1906, followed by the invention of the pneumatic-hydraulic shock absorber in 1918, and then the retractable landing gear, which was invented during World War II and is still in use today.

The functions of the landing gear are as follows:

❶ During takeoff and landing:

Cushioning function by absorbing impact energy

❷ During taxiing:

Suspension, taxiing, braking,
Steering functions

❸ During flight:

A lifting function to store the landing gear in the aircraft body

The main components of the landing gear system are as follows:

Landing gear system configuration

Since the 1990s, electro-hydraulic control systems (also known as by-wire systems) have become mainstream for lift-up/lowering systems, main landing gear braking systems, and nose landing gear steering systems, and the aircraft in which we have participated in the development also use electro-hydraulic control systems. The landing gear system, which controls the aircraft's movement on the ground, is an extremely important system that determines the safety of the aircraft, and we have advanced development, testing, and manufacturing capabilities for the mechanical structures, hydraulic equipment, and electronic control equipment that ensure this high level of safety. We also have experience in developing landing gear systems for civil aircraft that have passed safety inspections by US and European aviation authorities.
Furthermore, we are engaged in research and development of electric landing gear systems that contribute to energy conservation in order to create a sustainable society.
