Environmental policy
Global environmental issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental pollution are serious challenges that must be addressed worldwide in order to realize a sustainable society.
Based on one of our corporate philosophies, "We will be open to society and strive to coexist in harmony with the environment and local communities," we have established the following environmental policy and are actively engaged in global environmental conservation activities to realize a sustainable society.

Scope of Environmental Management
All business activities, including activities, products, and services at the following offices and organizations:
- ①All our organizations located at Amagasaki Head Office & Main Plant
- ② All our organizations located at the Shiga Plant
- 3) The following affiliated companies are located within Amagasaki Head Office & Main Plant site:
Silicon Sensing Systems Ltd. Japan Co., Ltd., Silicon Sensing Products Co., Ltd.,
SPP Technologies Co., Ltd. Inc.
Environmental Management System
Under the leadership of the Environmental Management Director, we have established an environmental management system by defining roles, responsibilities, and authority. The Environmental Management Committee communicates and shares information and instructions.
By establishing this environmental management and audit system, we have acquired ISO14001 certification for environmental management systems within the scope of application mentioned above.

Initiatives to reduce environmental impact
In order to reduce our environmental impact, we are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy-saving activities and waste disposal.
For fiscal year 2021, we were able to achieve all of the targets we set, as shown on the right. Regarding resource and energy reduction, we achieved an annual benefit of 10 million yen, compared to the target of over 9.5 million yen, and regarding waste per unit of sales, we achieved 1.28 tons per hundred million yen, compared to the target of 1.37 tons per hundred million yen or less.
For fiscal year 2022, in light of the growing global interest in climate change, we have changed our target from the annual benefits of reducing resource and energy use to the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Through this initiative, we will contribute to solving the issue of climate change.

Trends in greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1+2)
- Based on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, Scope 1+2 emissions are calculated using CO2 emission factors (for electricity, the emission factors of electric power companies change each year).2
- The scope of the target includes Amagasaki Head Office & Main Plant, the Shiga Factory, and other domestic factories and sales bases.
Trends in waste emissions

- Waste emissions are the total weight of general waste, industrial waste, and specially controlled industrial waste that have been outsourced for disposal, excluding waste processed in-house.
- The scope of the target is Amagasaki Head Office & Main Plant, Shiga Factory, and other domestic factories.
Addressing climate change issues
Our company has been working on energy conservation activities for some time, but climate change is now an issue that must be addressed on a global scale, and we believe that it could have a significant impact on our business portfolio and performance in the medium to long term.
Therefore, we view responding to climate change issues as one of our most important management challenges, and in order to contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050, we will work on more effective measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and will also formulate and disclose medium- to long-term environmental targets related to climate change issues, etc.
Mid- to long-term measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
| Initiatives | Content |
|---|---|
| Establishing medium- to long-term environmental goals |
|
| Reduce energy-related greenhouse gas emissions |
|
| Promoting the use of LED lighting in factory buildings |
|
| Reducing Fluorocarbons |
|
| Increasing the ratio of CO2-free electricity |
|
| Responding to various initiatives |

Environmentally friendly products
As shown in the table below, we handle a wide range of environmentally friendly products. At the same time, we are actively working on the development of new technologies and products.
In fiscal years 2021 and 2022, we will continue to develop new environmentally friendly products for heat exchangers for aircraft engines, MEMS and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and piezoelectric thin films, which are materials for MEMS devices. Through these business activities, we will continue to contribute to solving social issues.
